the principal at my school made an announcement yesterday that the girls need to start covering up and then i found this in the hallway

Or perhaps we should teach girls that you don’t need to show off every inch of your body to be considered attractive or sexy. As a female, it bothers me just as much that girls choose to wear such revealing clothes. There’s simply no need. And we all know that girls choose to wear those clothes in order to gain attention, especially from males. What we need to stress to girls is that they are beautiful whether they wear no clothes at all or choose to cover up their entire body. What exactly is the motive of buying a pair of booty shorts that shows off your ass cheeks to every living, breathing creature on the planet anyway? Is that really going to ward off the heat more than a regular pair of shorts would? Just throwing that out there.

MAYBE BECAUSE SHE HAS A RIGHT TO DECIDE WHAT TO DO WITH HER OWN BODY AND NO-FUCKING-BODY SHOULD EVER DENY A WOMAN’S RIGHT TO HER OWN BODY.

Never said anyone should tell a girl what to do with her own body, nor deny her of her own rights. I simply suggested teaching self-respect.

The notion of ‘self respect’ with regards to clothing is intrinsically linked into the bullshit idea that people are ‘wrong’ for wearing something revealing. If a person wants to wear a short skirt that has nothing to do with their ‘self respect’ it has to do with what they feel good in.Just because someone is wearing something revealing it does not mean that they are automatically looking for attention from their desired sex - that is an overwhelmingly narrow-minded concept.Let’s all just wear potato sacks and walk in the shadows with our heads down shall we?

The key word in “self respect” is self, so surely it is down to them to decide if they have self respect, That is not you’re call.
its really not that hard.
